Announcing We Love Detectives Week

I was gonna hold off on announcing this until the weekend, but I just finished making these pretty buttons, and I just don't want to wait to show them to you.  So... here we go!

I am once again holding a week-long blog party in February!  This time, the theme is detectives.  Amateur detectives, private detectives, police detectives -- every kind of detective you can think of!  If they solve one mystery or many, they're fair game.

Like every year, I will provide a blog tag, a giveaway, and games.  The rest of the festivities are up to you!  You can contribute anything detective-themed that you can dream up.  A profile of your favorite detective?  Overview of your favorite crime-solving show?  Review of a specific book, movie, or TV show episode?  If it involves a detective or two, then have at it!  Although all my buttons here are of fictional detectives, you are totally welcome to contribute something about real-life detectives, too.

There will be no sign-up roster for this, as everyone always has such unique takes on subjects for these parties that there's never a problem with two people sharing basically the same thing.  Still, if you want to comment below with your ideas of what you want to contribute, I'd love to see them!

The party will run February 21 to 25, with a link-up widget provided for people to add links to their contributions as they post them.  If you're still not quite sure how this will work, check out last year's We Love Pirates Week kick-off post to get a better idea.

As you can see, I got a little excited with the buttons.  Again.  I wanted there to be a good range of options so people would be likely to find a detective they're at least familiar with, maybe even a fan of.  I hope you like them!  Please share them on your own blogs and websites, Instagram, whatever, with a link back to this post -- we want to spread the news about this event so other people can join the fun!

I hope you'll join us!

  1. Ahhhh! So excited!!!

I'll have to think about what I want to contribute, but I just wanted to share my enthusiasm. ;)

  2. How funny! The last two things I watched had to do with detectives! I started re-watching Columbo and I watched a wacky movie with a most excellent Jack Klugman as a harried police chief solving a mystery.

    1. DKoren, well, that's just unusual for you, since you're not much of a fan of mysteries! What a funny coincidence! Do you know, I have never watched Columbo? I've always kind of wanted to, but just haven't managed it.

    2. I think that's why I enjoy Columbo so much. It's not a mystery. You know who did it up front, and the fun is watching Columbo unravel it in his unique ways. Columbo had great guest stars, too. Always makes it even more fun. :-D

    3. DKoren, okay, that does make sense! I really should try watching it at some point.

    1. Katie, awesome! I have two collections of Father Brown short stories on my TBR shelves, so maybe you'll nudge me to take one off and try it!

    1. Skye, I am not surprised! I actually haven't watched Veronica Mars ::gasp!:: yet. YET! I know many people who liken it to Buffy, especially concerning the dialog and humor styles, so I definitely want to try the show. One of these days!

  10. Ahhhhh!!! Mysteries were kind of the first genre I identified as being different and they still hold a special place in my heart. I definitely will participate! I have too many ideas which usually makes me freak out and decide for nothing, dash it all, but I'll try to be cool and collected like all of my favorite detectives. I might want to talk about Murder on the Orient Express in preparation for Death on the Nile coming out... hmmmm. Or I'll probably end up reviewing Nancy Drew (2007 movie). We'll see! Lately I've also gotten into loving lists, so I might do a top ten of some kind? All in all, brilliant idea, Hamlette! Looking forward to this!

    1. Also, the button on your sidebar for this blog party isn't working, but I found it through your Upcoming Blog Events page. :-)

    2. Chloe, that's so fun! Thanks for letting me know the sidebar button wasn't working -- I thiiiiink I have it fixed now.

Those ideas sound great. I am hoping I can hit Death on the Nile opening weekend and review it for the party, but we have a little family vacation planned for the middle of February, so that might not happen. But I am so excited for it finally getting released!

A top ten of favorite detecitives or mystery movies or mystery shows or mystery books or mystery series... any of those would be cool contributions!
