A Big Book Giveaway!

Screaming Peach Day is here!  And a dozen Christian Mommy Writer authors (including me) are giving away copies of our books that contain Screaming Peach references.

What on earth is a Screaming Peach?  It's a little "easter egg" that we like to hide in our books.  Sometimes it's a Shrieking Peach or other variation instead.  The Screaming Peach is usually a cafe or other restaurant-type place, but sometimes it shows up in other surprising ways.

One lucky winner will receive 12 different books written by Christian Mommy Writers (11 paperbacks and 1 ebook novella). Each book contains a Screaming Peach "easter egg" inside.  And one of them is my Ugly Duckling retelling, A Noble Companion!

This giveaway is open to continental U.S. addresses only.  You can enter between now and August 5.

Contest entrants will be added to the email newsletters of these 12 Christian Mommy Writers to receive updates, discounts, book news, freebies, scripture, and more. Entrants can easily unsubscribe at any time.

How do you enter?  By following this link and filling out the form it leads to.  It asks only for your name and email address.

No purchase necessary.  Void where prohibited.

Have a happy Screaming Peach Day!

*some people did not abide by the rules, which stated that entrants must provide an email address, and must provide prize choices, or else they would not be eligible for prizes.  Oops.

I hope you have had a merry week celebrating fairy tales with me, whether you won a prize or not!  I know I'm woefully behind on answering comments, and I hope to catch up on those this weekend.  I also hope to finish reading all the fun posts everyone contributed this week!  If you also need to catch up, or if you have last-minute contributions, here's that list widget again to make life easier for you :-)

I hope your ever afters are happy ones :-)  See you at the next party!

Giveaway for We Love Fairy Tales Week

Are you ready?  Behold the prizes for the We Love Fairy Tales Week giveaway!

I have seven prizes for you this year.  Read on to learn more about each prize and then find out how to enter!

Prize One: A Noble Companion gift set!  I made these for a couple of in-person author events in December, and I didn't sell quite all of them, so I'm giving one away to one lucky winner this week!  The gift set includes a paperback copy of my Ugly Duckling retelling, A Noble Companion, plus multiple fun gifts to open as you read.  Each gift is labeled with what page it corresponds to, so you can open them as you read... or open them all at once, if you would rather.  Your choice!

A Noble Companion is historical-esque, non-magical fantasy with talking animals and dragons living alongside humans in a fairy tale world based on 1800s Spanish California.  It's Christian YA with some mild western violence, no cussing, and a few lightly described kisses.

Prize Two:  a used DVD copy of Jack the Giant Slayer (2013), a fun fantasy adventure starring Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, and Eleanor Tomlinson.  It's rated PG-13 for "intense scenes of fantasy action violence, some frightening images and brief language."  It has some kissing, quite a bit of fantasy violence, and several cuss words (including the F word once).  I didn't show it to my kids until they were all at least 13.  It's a really fun movie, but definitely not intended for little kids.

Prize Three: four bookmarks (set one) depicting classic fairy tales

Prize Four:  four bookmarks (set two) with a princessy fairy tale theme

Prize Five: five stickers (set one) depicting castles and dragons coming out of books

Prize Six: five stickers (set two) depicting cottage-core fairy tale elements coming out of books

Prize Seven: five stickers (set three) depicting underwater fantasy scenes coming out of books

This giveaway is open worldwide!  It ends at 11:59pm EST on Friday, February 13.  I will have a random number generator pick seven winners that weekend, one for each prize, then alert the winners by email and announce them on my blog.  Winners have one week to reply to my email.  If they do not reply within one week, they forfeit their prize.

How to Enter

The giveaway widget I used to use is not longer operational, so this year, you will enter by leaving comments on this post.  I'll assign a number to each comment at the end of the week and use a random number generator to pick winning numbers.

You must leave a comment on this same post telling me what email address to contact you at if you win.  I have put all comments on "moderation," so those comments will NOT be shared here on my blog.  I will keep them private, and delete them after this giveaway has ended.  I will not use them for any purpose besides contacting winners of this giveaway.  Anyone who does not complete this step will not be eligible for a prize.

You must leave a comment on this same post telling me what your top three prize choices are!  I do my best to match prizes with winners based on the order the random number generator chooses the winners in.  I cannot guarantee that winners will receive their top choice of prize.  Anyone who does not complete this step will not be eligible for a prize.  You may enter this way only one time.

You may leave a comment with a link to the blog post you contributed to the We Love Fairy Tales Week celebration.  You may enter this way more than once, and each will count as one entry for each blog post you contribute to the party.  Please leave each link in a separate comment.

You may leave a comment telling me you have visited my Instagram profile and scrolled through my page a bit, and tell me something you like about my photos.  You may enter this way only one time.

You may leave a comment telling me you have visited my Goodreads profile and marked at least one of my books as "to read."  You may enter this way only one time.

You may leave a comment telling me you have visited my author website, and tell me which page you found most interesting.  You may enter this way only one time.

You may leave a comment telling me you have signed up for my author newsletter.  New sign-ups and existing subscriptions both count!  You may enter this way only one time.

Each of those will earn you one entry into the giveaway!

If you are posting anonymous comments, please add a name or nickname to them so I know who you are -- and use the same name or nickname for each comment.  Any unsigned, unidentifiable comments will be disqualified.

No purchase necessary.  Void where prohibited.  Must be 18+ or have permission from parent/guardian to provide a mailing address if you win.  I will not share mailing or email addresses with any third party OR use them for any purpose except what is stated in this giveaway post. All prizes were purchased by me for the purpose of this giveaway and will be shipped via USPS.  Once I mail them off, they are out of my hands and I am not responsible for whether or not they reach the winners.

Be sure to visit my kick-off post to find all the cool contributions for We Love Fairy Tales Week, and to leave links for your own!

Giveaway for Legends of Western Cinema Week 2024

Time to see what kinds of prizes I have gathered up for you this year, eh?  Here they are:

Details on all the prizes:

1.  A used DVD copy of High Noon (1952) -- A new bride (Grace Kelly) pleads with her husband, the town marshal (Gary Cooper), to flee town before a deadly killer (Ian MacDonald) returns to town seeking vengeance.  Directed by Fred Zinnemann.

2.  A used DVD copy of Shane (1953) -- A wandering gunfighter (Alan Ladd) teams up with a stubborn rancher (Van Heflin) to defend homesteaders from a greedy cattleman who wants to take their land.  Directed by George Stevens.

3.  A used DVD copy of Gunfight at the O. K. Corral (1957) -- Lawman Wyatt Earp (Burt Lancaster) teams up with his brothers and his friend, gambler Doc Holliday (Kirk Douglas), to take down Ike Clanton (Lyle Bettger) and his rotten followers in this highly fictionalized and very fun version of the famous Tombstone gunfight.  Directed by John Sturges.

4.  A Western Screen Legends coloring book -- I got myself one of these and liked it so much, I got another to share with one of you!

5.  A set of cowboy-themed stickers -- because they're cute.

All three of the DVDs play in my DVD player, but I can't guarantee they will work for you, of course.  I decided that my movie prizes this year would all be 1950s westerns featuring famous showdowns.  Kind of fun to have a sort of theme going for the prizes, I thought.

Please comment on THIS post and tell me what your top picks for a prize would be!  I can't guarantee that winners will get one of their top choices, but I do try to match winners and prizes.  If you already own one of the prizes and don't want a second copy, please comment with that info too!

We Love Sibling Stories Week -- The Giveaway

Who doesn't like to go home from a party with a little gift?  I'm afraid I can't send every one of you a tangible party favor, but I CAN send prizes to seven of you.  And here those prizes are:

I had such fun collecting these for this event!  Here are some closer looks at the prizes, plus information about them:

Prize One:  A set of three Little Women bookmarks that I purchased from A Fine Quotation.

Prize Two: One vinyl sticker featuring the Pevensie siblings from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe that I purchased from A Fine Quotation.

Prize Three:  A paperback copy of Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, a classic story about two sisters.  You can read my review of it here.  This book is new.

Prize Four:  A paperback copy of The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton, a young adult book about three brothers.  You can read my review of it here.  This book is new.

Prize Five:  A "novel journal" with a Peter Pan theme -- the lines of the journal that you write on are actually tiny little words making up the entire novel Peter Pan.  This journal is new.

Prize Six:  A DVD copy of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954), which is a frontier musical and a sort of Snow White retelling about a woman who marries a man and finds herself caring for his six brothers as well as himself.  This DVD is used, but plays in my DVD player.  Note that there is some slight damage to the cover of the movie, as shown in these photos.

Prize Seven:  A DVD copy of Little Women (1994), which is the story of four sisters growing up in New England during the American Civil War.  This DVD is used, but plays in my DVD player.

I will award one each of these prizes to seven different people.  This giveaway is open WORLDWIDE.  You can enter via this widget:

Giveaway for Legends of Western Cinema Week 2023

Want to win some fun cowboy movie-related stuff?  This year, I am giving away SIX prizes:

Prize 1: A set of 4 classic western movies, Albuquerque (1948, starring Randolph Scott), Whispering Smith (1948, starring Alan Ladd -- read my review here), The Duel at Silver Creek (1952, starring Audie Murphy), and War Arrow (1953, starring Maureen O'Hara).  This DVD set is NEW and unopened!

Prize 2: A paperback copy of The Hollywood West: Lives of Film Legends Who Shaped It edited by Richard W. Etulain and Glenda Riley.  This book is NEW.

Prize 3: The complete TV series The Loner (1965-66), starring Lloyd Bridges -- read my overview of the series here.  This DVD set is USED but plays fine in my DVD player.  I cannot guarantee that it will play in yours.

Prize 4: A set of THREE bookmarks featuring silhouettes of cowboy actors John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and Val Kilmer.  I made these myself from the pages of a Louis L'Amour book that fell apart, and covered them with contact paper so they will last quite a while.

Prize 5: A set of FOUR bookmarks featuring silhouettes of Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer), Virgil Earp (Sam Elliott), Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell), and Morgan Earp (Bill Paxton) from the movie Tombstone (1993).  Again, I made these myself and covered them with contact paper so they will last quite a while.

Prize 6: A rustic metal cowboy boot-shaped magnet.  I bought this in Cody, Wyoming, last month to be a prize for this giveaway.  It doesn't show up very well in the image above, so here is a closer look:

You'll notice that one way to get extra entries is by leaving a comment on this post giving me your prize preferences. You are welcome to tell me which prizes you DO want to win, as well as any you DO NOT want to win (for instance, if you already own one of the movies and don't need another copy). I can't guarantee that winners will receive their first choice of a prize! But I do try to match them whenever I can. If you don't tell me your prize preferences, and the widget chooses you as a winner, I will award you a random prize.

Another way to get extra entries is by participating in this blog party with a post of your own. That can be anything from filling out the official tag to writing a review, or whatever you dream up. My official kick-off post provides more information on ways to participate.

And you can get one extra entry each day by reading and commenting on one of my western movie or TV show reviews!  You can find links to all of those on this page.  Please read and comment on a different post each day and remember to enter the giveaway with that option after you do.

This giveaway is open WORLDWIDE. If the USPS ships to your country, you are eligible. However, you must be 18 or older in order to enter, or have a parent's permission to provide your mailing address. PLEASE make sure you sign into the widget with an email address you check REGULARLY. This giveaway runs through 11:59pm EST on Friday, July 28, 2023. I will choose six winners on Saturday, July 29, and announce their names/handles here on my blog. I will also use the email address provided to the widget to contact each winner and ask for their mailing address. Winners have one week to reply. If I do not receive a reply from a winner by Saturday, August 5, I will disqualify that winner and choose a new winner for that specific prize.

This giveaway is not affiliated with Blogger, Google, the USPS, Rafflecopter, or anyone else. I purchased or made all prizes myself and will pay to ship them myself. All DVDs are REGION 1 discs and will not play in most DVD players on other continents. Please check the region specifications of your DVD player before you enter if you do not live in North America.

Prize 2: One Anne and one Gilbert sticker -- Grace A.

Prize 3: One Kindred Spirits and one LM Montgomery sticker -- Roxann

Congratulations to all the winners!!!  I will be sending you an email at the address you provided to the widget, telling you what you won (in case you don't see this) and asking for your mailing address.  Be on the lookout for that! (I have a very busy day today, so it might not arrive until tonight...)

Thank you to everyone who participated in this fun and joyful celebration of L. M. Montgomery and her writing.  I am waaaaaay behind on reading people's contributions, but I promise I will read them all!  This week has been a bit hectic, but I suspect I will have some good time for them next week.  Anyway, here is the widget one more time so you don't have to scroll all the way down to the kick-off post to find it.  If you haven't read everyone's posts, or if you have a last-minute post to add to the widget, this should make it easier for you!

Giveaway for We Love LM Montgomery Week

Here we go!  Time to kick off We Love LM Montgomery Week in style!

This giveaway is open internationally. If the USPS delivers to your country, you may enter.

More about the prizes:

Prize 1: A gently used paperback copy of The Blue Castle paired with a matching "vegan leather" bookmark I purchased from the shop A Fine Quotation.  This style of bookmark has been discontinued, but I nabbed one quick for this giveaway before they were gone!  This book is gently used, and you can see that one of the corners is a little bent, but the spine is uncreased and it is basically like-new.

If you haven't read The Blue Castle, you can read my review of it here.

Prize 2: One Anne and one Gilbert sticker

Prize 3: One Kindred Spirits and one LM Montgomery sticker

I purchased these four stickers from A Fine Quotation also.  They are between 3" and 3.25" tall and very durable, water-resistant, and fade-resistant.  I have many, many stickers from this shop, and they work great on things like metal and plastic.  I've even hand-washed some on water bottles and such, and they are very sturdy.

Prize 4: A brand-new hardcover copy of Anne of Green Gables, the "Lifetime Library" edition.

If you haven't read Anne of Green Gables, you can read my review of it here.

Prize 5: One sheet of "Anne Shirley" stickers

Prize 6: One sheet of "Anne and Gilbert" stickers

I purchased both of these sticker sheets from TaleMeCo on Etsy.

Prize 7: A used paperback copy of A Tangled Web.  As you can see in the picture below, this copy does have a few minor rips in the cover.  I bought this used at a thrift store because it's got a pretty cover, and this isn't exactly the most common LMM book, so I thought it would make a neat prize even though it's not in perfect condition.

If you haven't read A Tangled Web, you can read my review of it here.

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this year's festivities!  We couldn't (and wouldn't) do this without you.

If you're like me and need to catch up on everyone's posts, here's that widget one last time with everyone's contributions, all rounded up in one handy little herd for your convenience.

Adios until next time!

Giveaway for Legends of Western Cinema Week 2022

Feast your eyes on the prizes for my giveaway this year!  I have had such a fun time finding and hoarding them for this event.

My movie selections for this have a theme this year -- they're all westerns where a woman plays a pivotal or central role.  We had a discussion last year at some point, somewhere, about how it's sometimes hard to find female-centric westerns, and so I wanted to make it a little easier for at least a few of you to see some of my favorites!

Okay, here's a run-down of the prizes:

Prize One:  The Rare Breed (1966) on DVD, starring Maureen O'Hara, James Stewart, and Brian Keith.  (You can read my review of it here.)  This DVD is brand new and unopened!

Prize Two:  Angel and the Badman (1947) on DVD, starring Gail Russell, John Wayne, and Harry Carey.  (You can read my review of it here.)  This DVD is brand new and unopened!

Prize Three:  Calamity Jane (1953) on DVD, starring Doris Day and Howard Keel.  (You can read my review of it here.)  This DVD is used -- it plays fine for me, but I cannot guarantee it will for you.

Prize Four:  Cat Ballou (1965) on DVD, starring Jane Fonda and Lee Marvin.  This DVD is used -- it plays fine for me, but I cannot guarantee that it will for you.

Prize Five:  Tall in the Saddle: Great Lines from Classic Westerns by Peggy Thompson and Saeko Usukawa.  This book is used, and has a little bending of the front cover, as you can see in the photo.

Prize Six:  Three stickers: two with silhouettes of cowgirls and one that says "I <3 Cowboys."  These are supposed to be dishwasher friendly and long-lasting.

Prize Seven:  A set of western-themed nail art decals!  They do come with instructions.

If you have a hankering to win any of these prizes, simply use this handy widget:

You'll notice that one way to get extra entries is by leaving a comment on this post giving me your prize preferences. You are welcome to tell me which prizes you DO want to win, as well as any you DO NOT want to win (for instance, if you already own a movie or you never use nail art decals).

This giveaway is open WORLDWIDE. If the USPS ships to your country, you are eligible. However, you must be 18 or older in order to enter, or have a parent's permission to provide your mailing address. PLEASE make sure you sign into the widget with an email address you check REGULARLY.

This giveaway runs through 11:59pm EST on Friday, July 29, 2022. I will choose six winners on Saturday, July 30, and announce their names/handles here on my blog.  I will also use the email address provided to contact each winner and ask for their mailing address. Winners have one week to reply. If I do not receive a reply from a winner by Saturday, August 6, I will disqualify that winner and choose a new winner for that specific prize.

This giveaway is not affiliated with Blogger, Google, the USPS, Rafflecopter, or anyone else. I purchased all prizes myself and will pay to ship them myself. All DVDs are REGION 1 discs and will not play in most DVD players on other continents. Please check the region specifications of your DVD player before you enter if you do not live in North America.

Any questions? Good luck!!!

We Love Detective Week -- Giveaway

Of course there's a giveaway!  There's always a giveaway.  Get out your magnifying glass and give these prizes a look!

This giveaway is open internationally. If the USPS delivers to your country, you may enter.

More about the prizes:

Prize One: Silver Screen Icons collection of The Thin Man (1934), After the Thin Man (1936), Another Thin Man (1939), and Shadow of the Thin Man (1941) on two DVDs.  These are effervescent comedy-mysteries starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, a retired detective and his wealthy wife.  Their dapper chemistry, witty banter, and generally jolly attitude toward everything make them the perfect pick-me-up for any cloudy day. This collection is USED -- the discs appear to work in my DVD player, but I can't guarantee they will in yours.  (Appropriate for most ages; contains a lot of alcohol use and some violence.)

Prize Two: Charade (1963) on DVD.  A witty and sophisticated suspense film starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant.  A young widow is pursued by three Bad Guys who insist she's hiding something her husband stole from them, and the only person she can trust is... complicated.  You can read my full review here.  This copy is NEW.  (Appropriate for teens and adults; contains violence, frightening and suspenseful moments, and lots of double-entendre-laden banter.)

Prize Three: Calcutta (1947) on DVD.  A twisty film noir mystery starring Alan Ladd and Gail Russell.  An American pilot living in India tries to figure out who killed his best friend, and why.  You can read my full review here.  This copy is NEW.  (Appropriate for ten and up; contains violence and some kissing.)

Prize Four: Classic Tales of Detection and Adventure by Edgar Allan Poe.  Contains the first true detective story, "Murders in the Rue Morgue," as well as two other adventures starring C. Auguste Dupin, plus two other mysterious Poe stories.  This copy is NEW.  (Appropriate for readers 12 and up.)

Prize Five: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  Contains twelve classic Sherlock Holmes stories, plus fifteen reproductions of Sidney Paget's original illustrations. You can read my full review here.  This copy is NEW, but it has a slight defect at the bottom edge, as shown below.  (Appropriate for readers 10 and up.)

Prize Six: The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler.  Possibly the most-famous hardboiled detective mystery ever, and certainly a fine one.  Philip Marlowe is hired to figure out who is blackmailing a spoiled little rich girl, and it all snowballs from there.  You can read my full review here.  This copy is USED.  (Appropriate for readers 15 and up.)

Prize Seven: The Lady in the Lake by Raymond Chandler.  My favorite mystery by my favorite author.  Philip Marlowe is hired to check on a rich man's wife at her lakeside retreat, just to be sure she's okay, and people keep winding up dead.  You can read my full review here.  This copy is USED.  (Appropriate for readers 15 and up.)

Prize Eight: Four bookmarks featuring quotations from Agatha Christie mysteries paired with illustrations.  I purchased these as a digital file from Eden Digital Arts and printed them on cardstock, then added velvety ribbons for a little extra elegance.

Prize Nine: Four pieces of Sherlock Holmes artwork featuring quotations and illustrations, each approximately 4"x6".  I purchased these as a digital file from Images By the Book and printed them myself.  They would be suitable for framing or sending as postcards, etc.

Rules and Regulations:

This giveaway will end at 11:59pm EST on Friday, February 25, 2022. I'll draw nine winners on Saturday, February 26, and announce them here on my blog that day, as well as alert them by the email provided to the widget. Use an email address you check often! If I don't receive a response from a winner by Saturday, March 5, that winner will be disqualified and I'll draw another.

This giveaway is open worldwide to anyone living in any country where the USPS delivers. I am not responsible for the activities of any postal service -- I will send off your prize in the condition shown above, but it's arrival condition is not something I can control. To enter, must be 18+ or have parent's permission to provide a mailing address. Void where prohibited. Not affiliated with Blogger, Google, Etsy, or any of the shops listed here. I purchased all these prizes, they were not donated or solicited in any way. I will use your email and mailing addresses solely for the purpose of this giveaway. They will not be saved by me to use another way or provided to anyone else.
