Ten Actors and Actresses from My Home State

I saw this on The Films in My Life, and am linking it up to Another Old Movie Blog, who started the idea!  Here's a list of ten actors and actresses who were born in my home state of Iowa.  They went with only classic film actors, but I broadened it to include some more modern people as well.  Listed in order of how much I like them because I can.  And I put their birthplace in parentheses.

John Wayne (Winterset)

Donna Reed (Denison)

Macdonald Carey (Sioux City)

William Frawley (Burlington)

Elijah Woods (Cedar Rapids)

Michael Emerson (Cedar Rapids)

Bill Daily (Des Moines)

Kate Mulgrew (Dubuque)

George Reeves (Woolstock)

Ashton Kutcher (Cedar Rapids)

    1. Jessica, yes, indeed! I have long been so happy that we share a birth state. I've even been to his birthplace, many many many years ago.

    1. Thanks, Skye! I actually only knew a couple of these (John Wayne, Macdonald Carey, and Elijah Wood), so the rest were really cool to learn!

    1. Kate, me too! Major Healey was such as sweetheart, always. Unfailingly nice. I've always suspected Daily must have been similar.

    1. Charity, WAIT, WHAT?????????????????????? I had to go look him up on imdb just to confirm that. J.J. Feild is from Colorado? OH MY WORD. My entire life just flipped on its head. I'm sure of nothing anymore.

    2. I know, right?! My head exploded. How on earth did he get over to England to be in all those British shows? Is there a Floo Network I don't know about? How did he wind up in Northanger Abbey? Or that movie about the Jane Austen experience? Or in TURN? HOW?

    3. Yes, wow and wow and wow. Obviously, he's talented with accents and it just works!

I only just found out he's in Turn, and now I have to watch it.

    4. TURN is a historically inaccurate hot mess full of selfish characters, none of which is likable (except for his Andre, who is also an unapologetic womanizer) -- so be forewarned, you may not like it. I was not a big fan of them turning a famous Canadian Christian abolitionist into a psychopath, myself. :P

    5. Haha! I'll keep that in mind. I tend not to look for a lot of historical accuracy in TV shows. Maybe that's because, ever since watching the Sean Bean "Sharpe" movies, I've associated screaming guitars with the Napoleonic Wars...

Agree or disagree? That is the question...
