I'm past the 20,000-word mark! Monday night I only wrote 2,115 words, but tonight I wrote 2,648. I'm still several hundred words ahead of where I should be. Huzzah!

The thing is, I'm 2/5 of the way to the word-count goal, but my story is only maybe 1/5 told. Yikes! Looks like I won't be actually finishing it before my v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n after all...but I'm fairly confident I'll reach the NaNoWriMo goal. Lord willin' and the creek don't rise...

  1. Impressive. Most impressive! You are really jamming smoothly along!! I'm back just past 14K. I know, I have an extra week that you don't, but still... wow!

LOL on your ultimate story length. That's like me last year. Got my 50K and that was only half the novel. Took me literally the rest of the year to get the next 60K done! Tsk, tsk.

  2. I'm still very afraid it's all gonna come crashing down on me at any moment. That the writing will leave me and I'll just sit in front of my computer for about three days going, "What? What? Why aren't any of you talking to me any more?" while my characters sit around eating cheesy-poofs and mocking me.

My goodness, I have such odd fears.

Except in my first novel, my characters really did go on some kind of road-trip for like two months where I couldn't get anything done because no one was cooperating. They were all tooling around in a car out in Arizona or something, eating Twizzlers and singing with the radio while I tried to convince them to come back and behave themselves. Eventually they did. I guess they ran out of Twizzlers.

  3. Nah! Those aren't odd fears at all! They're perfectly normal for perfectly sane people like us. Yep. Uh-huh.

Agree or disagree? That is the question...
