Merry Christmas, dear blogging friends! Has your day been merry and bright? We began the day with fresh cranberry scones topped with clotted cream.
Made me feel very British! My kids hated the clotted cream, which we were trying for the first time merely because I keep reading about it in books and wanted to try it. Turns out that clotted cream is like if you had ricotta cheese that wasn't grainy, or really solid and thick butter. Very, very rich. Not something I'll be eating every day, for sure!
I got the clotted cream recipe from this book, and the mini cranberry scones recipe is here.
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Oh my goodness, I LOVE clotted cream. I wouldn't say that it tasted like ricotta cheese though- but we usually buy ours, so maybe that makes a difference :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
No, you're right, it doesn't have a ricotta cheese taste. But it's kind of got that thickness.
DeleteThat looks so yummy! Maybe my family will be finished with the GAPS Diet by next Christmas, and I can make these! (We had gluten-free cinnamon rolls with no icing for breakfast, which did turn out much better than I was expecting...) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, cinnamon rolls :-9 I made some of those for breakfast yesterday! Sorta -- I used a baking mix, didn't make them from scratch, as I don't really want to get up at 5am just to start dough, lol. One day my kids will be surly teenagers and sleep until 11 every morning, and I can make real cinnamon rolls for breakfast then.
DeleteI love clotted cream, but my waistline wishes I didn't!! Your scones look completely delish!!
ReplyDeleteChristmas blessings to you and yours. Wishing your a wonderful 2014 too.
I'm kind of glad my kids didn't like the clotted cream, as it means I won't be making it very often. Maybe once a year as a special treat for me or something.
DeleteThanks!
