Happy Birthday, Jane Austen! (And Why I Love Persuasion So Much)

It's Jane Austen's 244th birthday!  To celebrate, I'm burning a candle from Floating Starlights, I shared a pretty candy-cane-inspired picture of Austen-related books on Instagram, and it just so happens that my latest Femnista article is all about my favorite Austen novel, Persuasion.  You can read that right here.

How are YOU celebrating Jane Austen today?

  1. As soon as I saw that picture on the left I said to myself-That's Bobby Darin! Did you know that today is the birthday of DODD DARIN, the son of Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee? Dodd is 58.

    2. Classic TV Fan, good job! Yes, I did know that Dodd's birthday was in mid-December :-) Today, alas, is the anniversary of the day Bobby died back in 1973 :-(

  2. I forgot that it was her birthday today! Wow! I can definitely relate to wanting to have a favorite that is different from everyone else. I've tried with her books, but each time I come back to Pride and Prejudice. I did read Persuasion for the first time this year, and it is probably my second favorite!

    1. MC, Austen's birthday tends to sneak up on me. P&P and Northanger Abbey are my 2nd favorites! So you and I are just kind of flipped on P&P and Persuasion :-)

Agree or disagree? That is the question...
