The Blogging-About-Blogs Tag

I decided that it's time to celebrate some of the blogs and bloggers that brighten my life.  So I've created this fun little tag to share my love for some of them, and honor the bloggers who have created them.  I hope you'll find some new blogs to follow and/or bloggers to befriend!

The Questions

Blog(s) that make me laugh
And right off the bat, I'm twisting my own tag to suit my purposes and listing more than one blog for the very first question.  Hmm.  Anyway, there are four blogs that consistently make me laugh aloud:  Wonderland Creek (for unexpectable hilarity), Preppies of the Apocalypse (for snarkilicious humor), Classic Forever (for energetic zanitude) and Coffee, Classics, and Craziness (for cheerfilled delight).

Blog(s) that makes me think
Charity posts some of the most thought-provoking examinations of pop culture at History!Chick.  Anna Ilona Mussman posts deep thoughts about books, writing, and life at Don't Forget the Avocados.  And I spend a lot of time pondering how to live my Christian life thanks to all the talented bloggers at Sister, Daughter, Mother, Wife.

Blog(s) that teach me things
I learn a lot about art composition at Temple of the Seven Golden Camels, about writing and history at The Second Sentence, and about classic Hollywood at Silver Scenes.

Blog with beautiful headers
Raindrops on Roses & Whiskers on Kittens always has headers that are like dessert for the eyes.

Blogger(s) who take great pictures
Kelly-Anne at Beautiful Girlhood and Jamie at Books and Beverages are both gifted photographers.

Blogger(s) whose recommendations I trust
DKoren (Sidewalk Crossings), Heidi (Along the Brandywine and Sharing the Journey), Kara (Flowers of Quiet Happiness), and Carissa (Musings of an Introvert and Bookshelves & Daydreams) write really great reviews, and my taste coincides so often with theirs that I often try books and movies solely on their recommendation.

New blog(s) I'm enjoying
Both Sunshine and Scribblings and Edified by the Margent are brand-new and full of promise.  Not coincidentally, they've both been started by people I've had contact with in the blogging world for a while now, Mary Horton and Kelda, respectively.

The blog I've followed the longest
I've been following DKoren's Sidewalk Crossings for about ten years now.

The blog(s) I've started following the most recently
I started following both Castles in the Air and On Stories and Words during Cinderella Week.

I Hereby Tag

Meanwhile, in Rivendell...

  8. I'm one of the bloggers that makes you laugh? Well, I never *try* to be funny (that's reeeally not my personality), so that kinda surprised me - but in a good way. :) I don't read that many blogs, so I probably won't do this tag, but I'll be checking out some of the blogs you mentioned.

    1. Eva, I realized I ought to clarify what I laugh for with each of those blogs, because it's something different for each of them -- your posts make me laugh with joy and delight as I get to see you experience things I love or hate and express your own love or hate for them.

I'd say half of the things I laugh over, in books and movies and blogs and real life, are things that fill me with delight, not things that are "funny."

  9. What a great idea for a tag, Hamlette! I'd like to do this, too, actually :-)
    1. Definitely Wonderland Creek :-)
    2. The Book Addict's Guide to MBTI--lots of food for thought there
    3. Meanwhile in Rivendell, definitely--Olivia has so many amazing things to say, it helps me a lot :-)
    4. Wonderland Creek and Along the Brandywine
    5. Natalie (Raindrops on Roses) and Emma Jane (A Lantern In Her Hand)
    6. Hamlette's Soliloquy and Meanwhile in Rivendell, both--you guys have a lot of good information on movies, and I really appreciate it :-)
    7. Castles in the Air! It's been awesome so far.
    8. Yet Another Period Drama blog--it was the first blog I ever followed, matter of fact :-)
    9. Ummmmmmmmmm . . . Book Addict's Guide to MBTI? I think?

    2. That's the one! I've been enjoying it quite a bit, especially all the posts explaining the type of different fictional characters. (And there are SO MANY characters included. Even the four Pevensie kids from the Narnia books. I've been most impressed.)

    3. Jessica, I'm quite enjoying it! And cross-referencing some characters with Charity's FunkyMBTIFiction site, just for fun too. Thanks!

    4. No problem! Oh, I love Charity's site too--I should've mentioned it in the tag but I didn't have space :-) She has a fascinating post up right now on her History!Chick blog about Ni-dominant types and David Bowie--have you seen it?

    5. Jessica, well, you didn't have to mention Charity's for my benefit, since obviously I know about it :-) Can't mention everybody! And yup, I read that post -- very intriguing.
