My Autumn To-Do List

Since my summer to-do list was such a great motivator, I thought I'd try something similar for autumn.  You'll notice some of the same goals from last time, plus lots of new ones.  I'm going to do my best to finish all of these by the end of November.

~ Transfer my languishing lavender plants to the ground

~ Read 3 books about Robin Hood

~ Read 3 other books from my TBR shelves

~ Read 3 other books from the library

~ Watch the Ioan Gruffudd version of Great Expectations

~ Watch 5 other movies from my TBW shelves

~ Watch the Patrick Stewart version of North & South

~ Finish rewriting my current WIP, "The Rose-Covered Cabin," and begin editing it

~ Make mushroom soup from the recipe in An Unexpected Cookbook

~ Make Mr. Thornton Cupcakes

~ Make one more trip to the local ice cream spot before it closes for the winter

(This is what their soft-serve cones are like!)

~ Take my kids to the state park forest

~ Make leaf crafts using all the leaves we collected last year and never used

~ Finish sewing my autumnal layered skirt

~ Make jumpers for my daughters from the fabric they've chosen

I think all of that ought to keep me busy, don't you?  Do you have anything you're hoping or planning to accomplish before December?

    1. Miss Evelyn, thanks! That ice cream is delicious :-9 That one is strawberry, but they also have green apple (it's green on the edges!) and pineapple (yellow!) and raspberry (blue!) and so on!

  2. That all sounds like fun! Especially the skirt-and-jumper projects :)
My major goal for this fall is to get through my three history classes without falling miserably behind and disgracing myself :) Also, I want to make sure I keep up with my writing whenever I have time, because I don't want to lose touch with the characters.

    1. Jessica, thanks! And those are good goals to have :-) In college, my goals were pretty much "do my homework."

    2. Absolutely. That's about where I'm at right now :)

  3. Ahahahahahaha. The Ioan Gruffudd Great Expectations is great. ;-P (Dull and bleak, but great.) Although for some reason it's terribly easy to make fun of...at least, Sadie and I have found it so. We're really very merciless to our favorite actor sometimes.

    1. Emma, well, I expect GE to be dull and bleak. And Ioan at that age is such an oversized puppy that he's just a little easy to laugh at, isn't he?

  4. I'd be interested to watch this version of Great Expectations. I really enjoy Dickens and also most of the movie versions of his books that I've seen. I really like the name of your blog, by the way!

    1. Carol, I hope you can find it, then :-) I'm not a huge Dickens fan, but I do love Ioan Gruffudd, so I'm hoping I'll like it.

And thanks! I like it too -- so much that I've never been tempted to change it.

    1) I Saw The Light
    2) Mockingjay Part 2
    3) SPECTRE
    4) Creed
    5) Star Wars: The Force Awakens

  6. Great list! I need to get around to watching that version of GE too. (I mean, Ioan Gruffudd and Justine Waddell!) Mr. Thornton cupcakes?! XD That sounds awesome.

    1. I'm thinking I'll try to time making the Mr. Thornton cupcakes with watching the '70s version of N&S :-)

  7. Very interesting list! That will certainly keep you busy the coming months!

What kind of leaf craft are you going to do? I'm always interested in craft ideas for my kids club.

    1. Thanks, Birdie! I rather think it will.

I found this great list of ideas for leaf crafts on Pinterest, and I can't wait to try some of them! The lanterns, the painting, maybe the leaf "critters" too.

    2. Oh yes, those are great ideas! Thanks!

  8. What a great list! Maybe I'll make one, too, because I feel a little disorganized at the moment. And be ready to turn the volume up on the Patrick Stewart version of N&S! I borrowed it from a friend recently and found it a bit hard to get through Stewart's thick accent. Much heavier than it is now, of course. This version is definitely different than the Armitage version, but it's good! Let me know how the cupcakes work out for you! I still need to tweak the filling to get a stronger tea flavor, I think.

    1. Hannah, I'm hoping to make the cupcakes to eat while watching Stewart's N&S! I will definitely let you know how they turn out.

I have a tendency to watch movies with subtitles because I watch them after my kids are asleep and don't want the volume up high to wake them, so maybe that will help with Stewart's accent? Though I can usually understand even thick accents (unless they're comically extra thick to deliberately confuse viewers, of course, but I'm sure that's not the case here).

    2. You'll be able to understand it with subtitles. I could get the gist of most sentences; I just had to replay a few parts to get the exact wording.

Agree or disagree? That is the question...
