True Confessions time.

I can't open the bags inside cereal boxes. Either I yank and yank on them until they burst apart and spill cereal all over the kitchen, or else I never get them open and have to resort to using scissors.

The thing is, it wasn't always like this! I distinctly remember opening many a bag of cereal when I was in high school. Obviously, it's a skill I unlearned during college.

There, now you know.

  1. It's not you! Those manufacturers have definitely changed the packaging. And it's not only cereal, but other plasticky bagged goods -- none of them open cleanly anymore. There was something small food item I had the other day (can't remember what it was now) that I couldn't get open to safe my life. Package said "tear here" and I tore and tore and it didn't tear.

And what about those hard plastic packaging units that they surround electronics and stuff in -- the kind that require a hacksaw and prybar to get into. And you can't just cut off one end, because the item is in the middle and the hard plastic is form-fitting, so you have to chop the package into bits from all directions to get in it. Rant Rant Rant!! :-D

  3. I've never been able to get them open properly. But that could just be me. But these days my poor kids have gnawed the whole thing open before I can even get to it.

Btw, my blog is moving. Check out the new address.
