Oh, the joys of parenting!

Cowboy put the crib together yesterday afternoon. It looks great! Light-colored wood, with an attached changing table and storage unit (3 doors, 3 shelves). I put Classic Pooh sheets on it, and we're all set.

Except, of course, that Dano has never gone to sleep by himself. At night, he sleeps with Cowboy & me, and during the day he sleeps either while I'm wearing him in a sling or on my lap. Or on Cowboy's lap if it's the weekend.

So we decided to start him out with napping in the crib, and then get him in there at night too. Yeah, um, sounds good in theory, right? This morning he did nap in there for 30 minutes (instead of his usual 60-90 min nap). This afternoon, well, it's 4:22 and he still hasn't napped. And he usually goes to sleep around 1. Right now he's in there crying... I let him cry for 5-10 min, then I go hold his hand and talk to him and calm him down... it's been a long afternoon.

I did manage to unpack a few boxes this morning, though! And wash the dishes! At least that's something.

  1. Getting the babies to sleep by themselves is a "fun" hurdle but it sounds like you're going about it the right way.

    Hang in there mom!

  2. Thanks! It's going a little better every day :-) And now I have time to do things like wash dishes and sweep the floor -- and update my blogs, lol!

Agree or disagree? That is the question...
