Legends of Western Cinema Week

Boy howdy!  Have I got some good news :-)  Emma (of A Lantern in Her Hand) and Olivia (of Meanwhile, In Rivendell) are co-hosting another western week, and it's coming up soon!  I'll definitely be participating, though I'm not sure what movie I'll review.  An old favorite?  Something I haven't seen before?  I'm leaning toward the original 3:10 to Yuma (1957) cuz I haven't reviewed it here yet and I have been hankering to watch it again.  We shall see!  Meanwhile, go here for more info.

  1. Thanks for the shout-out! Oooh, and you picked my Butch Cassidy and Sundance button. ;-) Good choice. (Have you seen that movie, by the way?)

    1. It was SUCH a tough choice between Butch & Sundance and Donovan & Dusty. In the end, I just liked the font better on B&S's. I dearly love The Apple Dumpling Gang, though.

I've seen Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid twice, and it's fun, but not my favorite.

    2. I saw Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid once several years ago, and I remember thinking it was kinda mediocre. I do like Robert Redford and Paul Newman, though. :-)

    3. Yeah, it gets a lot of hype, I think because they were superduper popular right then. I like them both better in "The Sting."

  3. I love your new pictures at the top of the page--especially the one of Jim from "The Man From Snowy River." He just looks soooooo awesome. Why can't there be more guys like that around today? :-)

    1. Thanks, Jessica! I was kinda wondering if anyone would recognize Jim. The Man from Snowy River is my absolute favorite movie, but it's a little obscure, lol. He does look awesome!

    2. I've only seen clips of the movie--since the whole film isn't on YouTube--but definitely enough to recognize good ol' Jim when I see him :)

    3. Well, it usually retails for under $5 on dvd, so if you ever get a chance to pick it up, do! Ridiculously wonderful movie.

  4. Hmm. Just by coincidence, I'm working on a review of "The Magnificent Seven". I'll see if I can finish it up in time for the party.

  5. My favorite western of all time is Rio Bravo with John Wayne. Character driven, slow, fantastic build up, awesome characters have awesome nick names. XD

    1. Oh, Jamie, that is my 2nd-fave John Wayne western! In fact, you'll notice that I used a pic from it in my new header :-D And yes, I love the character nicknames too -- Colorado and Stumpy and Feathers and Dude :-D Only John T. Chance gets a real name, it seems!

Agree or disagree? That is the question...
