NaNoWriMo is going really well so far! I've made my word count every day so far, plus a little extra. I'm shooting for 2,000 words a day so I can take Sundays off and do stuff like go to a movie or just take a break.

This past Sunday, I went to the library and saw I Want to Live! (1958), the true story Susan Hayward got her Oscar for. It was quite cool -- I especially dug Simon Oakland as the reporter whose story inspired the screenplay... I'm used to him as the other sergeant in "The Long Way Home" (Combat!). And it was neat to see Theodore Bikel as something other than a Mountain Man or a Russian submarine captain obsessed with American scenery.

And in other news, I'm considering starting another blog. Yes, a third one. Because I'd like to have one to link to from my Huggermugger shop, a blog that deals with crafting and stuff like that. But at the same time, I feel like maybe I should just link to this one, and stop fracturing myself. I already have a seperate writing blog -- would a seperate crafting blog be too much? I like having this blog be mostly for friends and family, just talking about random stuff, and so I don't particularly want to link to it on Huggermugger. Hmm. Any thoughts, anyone?

  1. The only thing about keeping this one is that it would be hard for readers to indentify this blog with your shop because of the name.
Otherwise, the most popular "crafting" blogs don's just focus on crafting by any means. People like to see the person behind the crafts. Like getting a behind the scenes look.
Actually, several blogs I read Have one name as their address and a different banner or subtitle.

Yes, this is one of the main reasons I'm considering starting a different blog. Plus, I could use the same header and user icon as I have on Etsy, so it would lend more cohesion. And although I happen to know I got the name Huggermugger from Hamlet, it's not an obvious connection.

Yeah, I planned to write about more than just crafting there, like I write about more than writing on my Inscriptions blog.

Right now I'm thinking of starting the new blog from my Inscriptions account, not this one, since it will be more public, and that way when people look at my profile page, they'll see those two blogs, and maybe visit both. Call them part of my public persona, vs my private Hamlette persona, lol.

  3. I agree with knitsational. I think a different blog would be cook because the buyers or people interested in your items at Etsy would like to know who is making them. It's fun to know, for example, that you make journals/note books because you, yourself, journal. And that you are a writer, so you make books for others to write in. It would be nice for others to know what kinds of books you like to read, which shows up in the types of pictures you put on your notebooks, ie Harry Potter, etc. Your personality shows through in the items you make and the colors you choose to make them from.

It would be fun for the buyer to find out what a cool person is making all that cool stuff!

Agree or disagree? That is the question...
