Guest Post about the "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) Soundtrack
Today I have a guest blog post up here on James' blog. This one is about the rollicking, joyous soundtrack for The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). If you read my recent review of the movie, you know how much fun it is, and the soundtrack totally matches that.
This is also the first soundtrack I've bought at the request of my children. They love it when I listen to soundtracks, and are always asking me what happens in different parts of whatever we're listening to. So they're very excited when we listen to the music from a movie they know well, because then they can tell me what's happening during the music. And they're way better at that than I am -- they're very observant :-)

This is definitely a very fun soundtrack, with lots of joyous trumpets and stuff, fanfares and some solo lute. The music for the Robin/little john bridge fight was very well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Isaac! I think "joyous" is a good word for it :-)
DeleteWhere did you get the soundtrack?! I was impressed by the music score the very first time I watched the movie, but I haven't been able to find the soundtrack for an affordable price.
ReplyDeleteConnie, I bought it used on Amazon for about $5. Here's a link. You can get it new for under $20 on DeepDiscount.com here, though it says it's on back order.
DeleteOK, thank you. I guess I must have been looking at the original recording, and that's why it was so expensive.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the original recordings were discarded after the film was released, so there is no official soundtrack from the original recordings. You can either get a rerecording like this or a recorded-from-the-film itself version, and they vary in price.
