ReplyDeleteI used to not like mashed potatoes, but I've softened a little lately. French fries are still my favorite, though. Annnd I don't like peanut butter or pears. :P
F Troop makes me smile. I keep bugging Mom to buy both seasons on Amazon, because those few episodes you sent only whet my appetite.
My big toenail got ripped off several years ago and it took forever for it to look normal again, but it did happen! (I'm actually not sure which toenail it was now.) So there's hope. :)

DeleteThe trouble with pears is they're only really good for about 6 hours. Before that, they're too hard to be yummy, and after that, they're pulpy and gross.
I hope you can find both seasons of F Troop cuz they're sooooooo fun!
This one got ripped off about 5 years ago, to be honest. And then it just keeps getting smashed or stepped on or mangled in other ways, so it is all weird now. Grr. But thanks for the ray of hope! You never know, it could be normal again one day.
Apparently, I've never eaten a pear in the perfect six-hour window, because they're always too mushy or too hard.

Eva, yeah, it's hard with pears from grocery stores to get them where they're good. If you can ever find them at a farmer's market or something, try one!
DeleteWe lucked out and both seasons were on sale for like $12 when we bought them, but I think they're about $40 altogether here now too.

DeleteLove Leverage and Castle so much! I need to watch Agents of Shield... I love marvel movies but somehow never got past a few episodes of AoS. And now you've inspired me to listen to the soundtrack of Sons of Katie Elder... I always love Elmer Bernstein's soundtracks. And now I kind of want to rewatch the movie.
ReplyDeleteLois, Agents of SHIELD took about 14 eps to hit its stride. On a whole, the second half of every season is better than the first half. I'm a few eps behind right now, but hoping the same will be true of this season, cuz I wasn't a big fan of the first half. Cowboy's decided to quit watching, which is hard on me cuz I have very little watching time right now except Friday nights when he and I watch stuff together. Hmm.
DeleteAnyway, LOVE the soundtrack to Katie Elder. Bernstein is a master. This was only recently released -- all that was available for years was a really short version, but this is remastered from the original score and is wonderful. It's a limited edition, though, so if you can find it, snap it up! Amazon doesn't have it, but you can find it on ebay. It's got the image I included in my post. I was so excited at how good it is, I bought a back-up copy just in case something happens to mine.
And yeah, I'm in the mood to watch the movie basically any time. It's my fave John Wayne movie <3
I've heard Agents of SHIELD gets better so I would really like to get back to it. My husband already watches it but he's way ahead of me so I can't watch it with him.

DeleteI know what you are talking about with your toe. I had that happen with a few of my fingernails a few years ago, and I currently have a problem with my toe that won't go away!!!!

DeleteMmmm, Shakespeare <3 As you might guess from my blog title and username, I'm a pretty big fan of his, especially Hamlet :-) But I enjoy lots of his plays! Midsummer is a fun one.
Every time you say you don't like potatoes, I have to grin, because to me, potatoes are such a staple of life that I tend to assume EVERYONE likes them. Potatoes are like bread, you can't live without either of 'em. (And this is where you can hear my combined Polish-ness and Lithuanian-ness talking . . . ;-) )

Jessica, there's not a lot of bread I don't like. I love a good rye when it's toasted and then spread with butter. Or for making corned beef sandwiches :-9 Same for pumpernickel. Our grocery store has this fantastic stuff called Marco Polo bread -- it's dusted with rice flour, and it's soooo crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, and oh, so good.
DeleteFor years I just thought I couldn't bake bread from scratch because my mom never did, and I thought it would be really hard or take too long to learn. And then my best friend and one of my s-i-ls started baking bread, and I was like, "If they can do it, I can do it." So now I bake bread. Not all the time, but once or twice a month, sometimes more.
(Sweet breads, though, like banana bread and zucchini bread, I've made since I was a kid.)
*nods* I love rye bread for salami sandwiches, with cheese and mustard.

I love doing creative writing!! I'm currently doing an Intensive in the Institute of Excellence in Writing and I get to re-write Aesop's fables in the style of other authors... I just re-wrote the Hare and the Tortoise in the style of Mark Twain, and me oh my, he's a fun one. ;D
You know, I think I'd like to try my hand at this tag, although I may not have enough answers for all of them. I'll get a separate comment.

DeleteSounds like a fun writing course! I got to help teach creative writing one semester as part of an internship in college, which was fun. Now I'm teaching it to kids ages 5-12 in our homeschool co-op this year!

I've never in my life done a cartwheel. Sometimes I wish I'd learned. My kids are learning from Cowboy, so that's something, anyway.

Quiggy, you don't have to do it as movies you've watched more than once with your best friend! Everything in parentheses is just stuff I added to it. Cuz I've watched SO many movies over and over, so that was one way I could think of to narrow it down a bit.
DeleteHaha, I didn't even think of driving peeves. How about "people who don't understand free-flowing right-turn lanes and STOP in them instead of freely flowing?" Cuz I get bugged by that one a LOT.
Rolling stops are at the top of my list. I don't know what a free-flowing right turn is. Maybe that's a local thing in your state... In Texas every right turn has either a stop sign or a yield sign. And we have tons of jerks who will ignore them and pull out in front of oncoming traffic (usually me...)

Quiggy, I think free-flowing right turns are a thing in bigger cities, more, where you have a lane that only turns right, and it turns into a new lane that no oncoming traffic can get into, so there's no need to stop or yield because nobody will be coming up behind you as you turn. It's a great idea IF PEOPLE WOULD ONLY USE IT.
DeleteRolling stops are especially awful with 4-way stops. Ugh. Come on, people.
