Cut. My. Hair. What is this madness??? Lol. I'm 34 and I've never had a haircut! Just trim 4-6" off twice a year...
Besides, going from a brunette to having hair like a hot sunset (to quote Raymond Chandler) is a pretty big change! Still, never know, some day I might cut it. Depends on what the texture is like when I'm middle-aged.
Point taken. It would be a pretty big change. Shoot, I come from a very conservative background...and I am, well, less-conservative than some of my peers. So I've never cut my hair short, and when I finally trimmed about 6 in. last week....well, I had to calm my father down. :-)
Hee. I think my husband is much more adamant that I keep my hair long than I am. Once in a while (usually in the summer) I consider cutting it really short, but just never done it. Yet.
Wow. The...Hair...Is...Quite...Something. I've hardly ever cut mine either (beyond trimming) and not short (which was just below my shoulders for me) for about eight years. I generally like to keep it short enough that I'm not sitting on it (as then it gets to be a bit of a bother). :-)
Btw, my brother and I are just in the middle of The Big Country starring Gregory Peck. Have you seen that? Had to get to bed last night so we stopped just as matters were getting hot and looking forward to finishing it this evening. ;-)
Hee. Yes, it's very bright. Actually, this is from right after I dyed it, which is a few weeks ago now -- it's toned down some, and already almost an inch has grown out! That's the problem with fast-growing hair, I guess.
And I LOVE The Big Country! Oh man, that theme song! So stirring and fun. I'm whistling it right now! It has its faults, but I love Gregory Peck and Charlton Heston and Jean Simmons and Chuck Connors! Okay, yes, Chuck Connors is playing the bad guy here, and he's mighty good at playing the no good, low-down snake in the grass, but I love him so much in the show "The Rifleman" that I enjoy him here too. And Burl Ives! Cracks me up over and over, he does. I think my favorite moment in the whole movie is when someone asks Gregory Peck if he's seen anything as big as that country, and he says, "Yes. The ocean." Oh, such a great moment. Anyway, how'd you like the movie now that you've finished it?
Have you ever watched any eps of "The RIfleman"? I see there are a whole bunch on YouTube. The series isn't on DVD yet, which is a crying shame. Sweet, sweet western show about a widower raising his son.
My now official opinion is that it's AMAZING! :-) I really enjoyed it and it's definitely on my to-watch-again list--right near the top.
No, I haven't seen any of "The Rifleman" and so my impression is...that Chuck Connors plays a really good bad guy. Whew! The casting seemed to fit perfectly all the way around and I particularly enjoyed seeing Peck and Simmons and Heston. And yes, the ocean line was great. I think one of my favorite lines from the whole thing was Heston's: "You take a ---- of a long time to say goodbye, McKay." And Peck's line to Ramon when they're going through the canon and he wants to know what he thinks of it. A spice of humor in a very tense moment--and Ramon's face throughout the whole climax is priceless.
Yes, Chuck Connors does menace really well. I've seen him play everything from morally questionable to scoundrelly to downright despicable, and he pulls them all off. But I love him the most as The Rifleman.
Thanks! I've dyed my hair a much more natural auburn a couple of times, though that was more than 6 years ago. This is the first time I've gone this bright. I love it too!
I've always been a little envious of people who try different color hair - I've always been too big of a chicken (and now since my hair is short, it'd be gone in two weeks anyway), but love this color on you!!
Hamlette, it is wonderful to see what you actually look like. What a great photo! I cannot say that I am feeling that shade of auburn on you, but I think it is great that you tried something new.
When women are younger we tend to be more fixated on having long hair. The men in our lives do not make it easy for us to decide to cut it either. I think that both men and women associate long hair with youth, so we tend to be reluctant to cut it. Also many women feel prettier with longer hair.
I did not have long hair until I decided to grow dreadlocks. My hair grew past my waistline. I enjoyed having dreadlocks, but after 5 years I decided to cut them off. They were heavy, and I just wanted a change. After cutting them off I felt relieved, light and renewed. It was a huge relief not having hair constantly on my neck. Washing my shorter hair is so much easier too. It took hours for my dreadlocks to dry. I do not care if my hair is long or short. As long as it is healthy that is the most important think to me. I look just fine with any length hair.
Thanks! It's actually much less bright now -- still not by any means a natural color, but considerably closer to this, which was my inspiration :-)
Most of the time, I forget just how much of it there is, because I've always had it. As a kid, I loved the long hair because I could imagine I was a horse and it was my mane. Now, I actually think it's easier to care for than short hair because I never have to style it, never spend money on a hairdresser, just wash a couple times a week and I'm good.
I can believe dreadlocks would be heavy! I worked with a guy who had them and they were massive.

Not gonna lie...I was hoping you had it cut all sassy-like, like Comrade Romanoff. ;-)

DeleteJust an all-around delightful movie!
Well! Looking pretty good there, my friend! I do like the color. It totally works for you! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I find it very fun. Sometimes I forget I dyed it, and then I'll walk past a mirror and go, "Whoa! Oh yeah!" :-D
DeleteNice color! I used to sport this color a lot. Loved it. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks! Me too :-)
DeleteI absolutely Love this!
ReplyDeleteHee, thanks! :-D I find it very fun.
DeleteVery nice! And also nice to see a picture of you, I like when I can have a picture in my head of my blog friends!
ReplyDeleteThanks! And yes, I'm kind of... paranoid about posting pics of myself for all the world to see, but I figured a partial pic would be fairly safe :-)
DeleteCool. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!

ReplyDeleteWell, if it'd be gone in a couple weeks, this would be a good time to try something radical without being "stuck with it" for a long time, right?
DeleteAnd thanks! I love it too.
Cool, cool. Lovely color - gotta' rock those auburn shades because they're awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Doing my best ;-)
