Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Charity nominated me for this blog award :-)  Thank you, Charity!  I find you very inspiring too!  Especially when I have a Femnista deadline looming....

The Rules:

  • Post the award on your blog
  • Thank your nominator because they’re awesome
  • List 7 facts about yourself
  • Nominate 15 other blogs for their awesomeness
  • Post the rules so people know them

Seven Facts About Hamlette:

1.  I was first published when I was seven years old.  I submitted a poem called "The Ant" to Highlights for Kids and they published it!

2.  My favorite Star Wars character is Han Solo.

3.  Strawberries are my favorite fruit.

4.  I own 10 different adaptations of Hamlet on DVD, including an opera and a Chinese retelling.  (I haven't watched the Chinese retelling or one of the others yet, though.)

5.  I've never had a haircut.  I get 4-6 inches trimmed off every six months or so, but I can't remember a time when it wasn't long, usually reaching my waist.

6.  I've visited John Wayne's birthplace in Winterset, IA.

7.  I have lived in seven different states:  Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Connecticut, and Virginia.  And I've lived in each of them for at least three years apiece.

I know it says nominate 15 other blogs, but I'm not going to.  I follow 55 blogs right now, and to choose 15 from them that are the most inspiring to me would be much too difficult for a busy Wednesday.  If you'd like to be nominated, let me know in the comments and I'll nominate you "officially."

    1. Yeah, I know, right? People get weirdly attached to that Luke guy, I guess.

  4. Your list is awesome. I'm a little envious of your hair -- I cut mine when I was thirteen and have never had it longer than my shoulders since. I always get impatient and chop it all off, so I've been starting over in growing out pixie cuts for decades. Hehe.

10 versions of Hamlet?! You must really love Hamlet! :D

    1. Thanks! And yeah, I've never had the guts to cut it off. Afraid I'd miss it too much!

And I do love Hamlet. If I told you how many different books I own about it, including random different editions of the play, you'd shun me as a freak.

  6. Congrats on the fun award! Fun read, Hamlette. Much as I like being in one place, it's cool you've been to so many different states.

I cut my hair (shoulder) when I was a teen and that went into a pattern of cutting it every summer and then growing it out in the winter. I have insanely thick hair, so it gives me headaches if it grows too long. I fell out of that for a while, but now it's shoulder length again and I love it. So much easier to take care of. :)

    1. I've actually visited all of the lower 48 states, those are just the ones I've lived in. For a homebody, I do love to travel! Most of that was when I was a kid, though.

I would like to cut my hair some time, just to see what it's like, but so far, nope, not gonna do it.

  7. great list! I love the John Wayne museum. Took some photos there a few years ago but never posted them to my blog (I need to do this soon) Heard that the museum was moving into a new building this year nearby.

    1. Thanks! I've only visited that museum once, but it was almost 20 years ago, when I was a teen. I'd love to see your photos! And is there a reason they're mving to a new location?
