Month two of the Period Drama Challenge is behind us, and here are my answers to Miss Laurie's new set of questions:
1. What period dramas have you watched in February?
The Cardboard Box (1994), The King's Speech (2010), Persuasion (1995), the Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman pilot (1993), and The Hasty Heart (1949).
2. How many Charles Dickens adaptations have you seen?
I've seen Oliver! (1968), the musical version of Oliver Twist. I've seen The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) and the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol (1999). That's all, as far as I can remember.
3. Do you prefer heroes that are spotless wealthy gentlemen or gritty hardworking men?
Probably the latter, as my husband pointed out this week that I am drawn to rugged men. Spotless, wealthy gentlemen don't tend to be rugged.
4. Do you tend to prefer heroines that are sweet and gentle or adventurous and spunky?
Definitely adventurous and spunky! Sweetness and gentleness are a plus, though.
5. Do you enjoy listening to period drama soundtracks? Do you own any?
I do! I do! I own a whole bunch: Anastasia, Ben-Hur, Anne of Green Gables, Brigadoon, Camelot, Emma, Giant, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Hamlet, A Knight's Tale, Les Miserables, Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, Return of the King, The Man from Snowy River, The Mask of Zorro, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Moulin Rouge!, Much Ado About Nothing, The Music Man, Oklahoma!, The Patriot, The Phantom of the Opera, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, Rigoletto, Singin' in the Rain, The Three Musketeers, Tombstone, and The Untouchables. So that's... 28 of them!
And just a reminder: don't forget to enter my giveaway here for your chance to win a brand-new copy of the first season of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman! I will draw a winner on Friday, March 8th.
Oh I envy your period drama soundtrack collection. In a good way, of course. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, cuz when I started to answer this, I was like, "Oh, I have a lot of soundtracks, but probably just ten or twelve from period dramas." Then I started going through them and discovered how wrong I was! And some of these get listened to a LOT.
