Hmm. Elinor Dashwood. Can't say I'm surprised!

  1. I came up Marianne Dashwood. Sadly, I haven't read the books, and I only saw that movie once, and all I remember is she was going to get a cold from being wet. And I only remember that because of the way she said "You're right," to her sister (I think) for some reason during that scene, and that Kate Winslet line has been stuck in my head ever since!!

    Yes, I really do need to read some Austen one of these days.

  2. Can't say I'm surprised you haven't read Austen... there are no guns, no ships, no bad guys :-)

    My favorite so far is "Persuasion." (I haven't read "Mansfield Park" or "Northanger Abbey" yet) I think you might like it best -- it's faster-paced and has a somewhat snarkier heroine. Anyway, it's much shorter than "Emma" or "Sense & Sensibility," so if you decided you hated it, you wouldn't have spent as much time on it.
