Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas!  I hope you've had a lovely day -- I definitely have!  We went to church this morning, then spent the afternoon doing our own version of Jolabokaflod by all drinking hot chocolate and reading books.  My husband lit a fire in the fireplace when the sun went down, which made it even more cozy!

Tonight, we'll be watching The Thin Man (1934) before bedtime.

Merry Christmas!

  1. Rachel, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! Sounds like you and your family had a lovely day. We had a very good day here in northern Arkansas twelve miles north of the Buffalo River. We are in a record setting heat wave of almost 80-degree weather, not exactly Christmas weather.

We viewed a new Christmas episode of the TV Western RAWHIDE(1959-1966). Well, new to us anyway. The "Twenty-Five Santa Clauses" which first aired on December 22. 1961. To me, this is a delightful episode guest starring Ed Wynn, Anne Seymour, and Rafael Lopaz. I probably viewed this Christmas episode when I was a youngster, but that has been many years ago. We really enjoyed this episode, and it had a really good redemptive message. I don't want to give away too much about this episode, but the pretend reindeer scene is really something to see.

To you, your family, readers and commentors of HAMLETTE'S SOLILOQUY I wish a very HAPPPY NEW YEAR!

    1. Merry Christmas to you, Walter! I have not seen that ep of Rawhide, but I am going to have to find it! Such a fun show :-) I expect I'll be watching quite a bit of it in 2026, as I've just started writing a book set during a cattle drive. I have season 1 on DVD and will probably be picking up more as I go.

Happy New Year to you and yours!
